THE LONGEST RUNNING NUMBER ONES THIS DECADE. Meghan Trainors extremely infectious ‘All About That Bass’ becomes only the 3rd song this year to spend 4 weeks at Number 1. Clean Bandit with ‘Rather Be’ spent the whole month of February at the top of the chart while Pharrell Williams with ‘Happy’ chalked up 4 unconsequitive weeks in January and March. Back in 2013 Daft Punk with ‘Get Lucky’ secured 4 weeks, but it was Robin Thicke with ‘Blurred Lines’ that took the honours at 5 weeks. In 2012 Carly Rae Jepson achieved 4 weeks with ‘Call Me Maybe’, but even more impressive was Gotye featuring Kimbra with Somebody That I Used To Know’ at 5 weeks that led the way. In 2011 the big songs were ‘Party Rock Anthem’ from Lmfao at 4 weeks and Adele with ‘Someone like You’ beating them all that year with 5 weeks. In 2010 3 tracks shared the spoils at 3 weeks apiece, Owl City with Fireflies’, Roll Deep with Good Times’ and Matt Cardle with ‘When We Collide’. It was back in 2007 that a song last spent longer than 5 weeks at Number 1, from November 3rd until December 22nd Leona Lewis with ‘Bleeding Love’ topped the chart for 7 weeks.
