THE MAGIC WORD We are all made up of individual atoms that compose different ideas and views but at the same time we forget that people make mistakes and people have emotions.So as much as we dont want to face certain people when an issue arrives, we have to and even more so, we need to find a way to resolve it and move on. And the fact of the matter is there is one simple sentence that can heal all: Im sorry. Say the simple words that can change everything: But before you say I m sorry: Dont say you’re sorry if you arent. Determine in your head, what went wrong. If you bring up the issues with your counterpart be sure you arent berating them. Explain what went wrong and how you can move on from it. Dont bring up what caused the heated argument again. The issues are over. You are sorry for certain actions and reactions but once they are over they are over. Dont try to be the martyr and apologize in front of a big group, or pull the person aside when they are talking to someone else. Wait until some time has passed and the person is alone. When you say youre sorry, dont just say it. Explain why you are sorry and Im sorry you reacted the way I said something is not a genuine apology. Accept Responsibility for what you did that caused things to go array. Im sorry I thought your ideas were stupid. I want to hear what you mean by that The reason why you are sorry is because you are. You want the person to accept your apology and move on. Do know if a lot of hurtful things were said to the other person and he/she may not be ready to apologise and thats okay. You said what you had to say and when they are ready they will come to you. Now that you have apologized its time to change your behaviour and move on. Talk about something else to break the ice. Or go back to the topic at hand if a project needs to be completed but stick with your words and remember to breathe and think before you speak. You just apologized, you dont want to have a world wind of a conversation again. Im sorry but its time to move on!!
