THE MAN GODDY ESOM OBODO, FSLC, WASC, NCE, B.Sc, M.Ed, PhD. Dr. Goddy Esom Obodo is a native of Amafor in the Ohaji/Egbema Local government area of Imo State. He was educated in Emekuku High School, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, University of Nigeria Nssuka, and University of Port Harcourt as could be seen in the above certificate parade. He is a professional educator and educational planner and has contributed to the wealth of knowledge through his books, academic journals, research, public seminars and workshops. He had held several non governmental leadership positions ranging from school Prefect, SUG officer, Club leader to Town Union official. He had served his Local government , Ohaji/Egbema in the Imo State House of Assembly during which time he brought glamour to his constituency by nicknaming it the OIL KINGDOM CONSTITUENCY. He had equally served the State- Imo as a two time commissioner where he made his mark very relevant to Imo people. Had traved to virtually every major country of the world to gather knowledge while doin government job. A Paul Harris Fellow, he holds many chieftaincy titles and merit awards from reputable organizations in Nigeria and beyond. Is comfortably married with children. ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR 1.) Created Development Areas, political wards and autonomous communities for the people of his constituency. 2.) Awarded the first contract for the reconstruction of the colonial building at the Oguta lake water front as a prelude to making Oguta a tourist haven of the South Eastern Nigeria. 3.) Fully renovated the Imo Standard shoe company. 4.) Brought life back to Concord Hotel after many years of inactivity. 5.) Attracted the construction of three roads in Ohaji/Egbema namely; Avu-Adapalm Road, Obosima-Ohoba Road, and Afor Assa- Eke Awarra Road. 6). Awarded contract for the construction of the new road, gate house and inner ring road of the now Imo polytechnic Umuagwo. 7.) Fought for the establishment of the 13% Oil derivation fund committee which later became ISOPADEC 8.) Attracted first seed fund for the revival of Adapalm Nigeria Limited, now Imo Palm Plantation. 9.) Floated scholarship scheme for the people of his constituency. 10.) Organized the first ever female football competition in his constituency. 11.) Organized the first Imo Industrial Summit in Owerri. 12.) Established the consumers protection committee for the first time in Imo State. 13.)Built produce beaches in Imo State. 14.) Renovated the Oguta Pontoon services. 15.) Took Imo industrialists to Belgium for the first ever Imo Business Forum abroad. 16.) Facilitated the employment of over 250 Ohaji/Egbema people in the Imo State Civil Service, the records are there and they beneficiaries are alive today. Made himself available and accessible to every person who cares especially people from his constituency.....etcetera. HIS VISION 1.) To make a positive change in the life, business and resources of his people through well thought out and articulate legislative procedure. The neglected and marginalized life of my people will change, their business will blossom and their resources will be better appreciated. 2.) To build a Constituency Parliamentary College to train youths taking interest in community and legislative service. 3.) Employment generation, youth and women empowerment will be pursued with vigour. Each of the thirty three (33) wards in his Federal Constituency will have a representation in his service and shall be on monthly stipends. 4.) Donor agencies shall be attracted to establish skill acquisition centres in our constituency. 5.) Shall establish a monthly media chat on NTA and FRCN for his people to be abreast of the goings in the National Assembly without necessarily waiting for the annual constituency briefing. 6.) Shall overhaul his existing scholarship foundation with new members of board of trustees. 7.) Shall set up a body to be known as Oil Revenue Advisory Committee ( ORACOM) just to help facilitate our quick recovery from the present denial of our right as the major Oil producing constituency of the state.
