THE MINISTER, HIS MESSAGE AND HIS MINISTRY VOL (1) Basola Victor TM Topic: How To Raise Substantial Partners For your Ministry (Anchor Scripture: Luke 8:1-3) Today, I will begin this series The Minister, His Message and His Ministry which the Lord has laid in my heart for you. Let’s begin with this topic that cuts across several ministers of faith who long to do more for God on this side of eternity. “How To Raise Substantial Partners For your Ministry”. And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herods steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. (Luke 8:2-3) The ministry of Jesus attracted a large followership and commanded multitudes. To sustain such a mega ministry, you need substantial partners who believe in the call of God on your life and who are willing to support you to achieve your vision. When God gives you a vision, He makes provision for people to help you fulfill it. Where there is no vision, the people perish. (Prov 29:18) Also, where there are no people, the vision will also perish. I call these set of people “the rich amongst the people”. Without them, ministry will be frustrating and full of struggles and wishes! And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. (Ps 45:12) The women listed in Luke 8 where not common women; one of them was the wife to a senior special adviser to the King and if you look at that scripture critically you will see that it says, they ministered to Him of their substance and not of their remnant. I ask that the Lord will release such substantial partners to make the work easy for you in Jesus mighty name. Amen To raise such partners, you must; 1. Ask God to give them to you God is the best supplier of human, spiritual and financial resources that will aid you to this His work. Remember, you cannot do the work of God without the help of God. He knows that the harvest before you is ripe and that your co-labourers are few, yet He still demands that you pray! Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (Matt 9:37-38) If you seek to attract partners without praying, you will only attract people that will break your ship. Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the Lord hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish. (2 Chron 20:37) Jesus prayed before choosing His disciples yet amongst the twelve, there was a Judas. If He had not prayed, He would have also attracted Tobiath and Samballat. 2. Impact people genuinely through the power of God at work in you: These women were people which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities in the meetings of Jesus earlier and they had no option but to service the grace of God at work in Christ with their substance. Don’t be deceived, people do not forget the channel through which God blessed them. When people are truly blessed through your ministry, you don’t need to beg them or employ unholy gimmicks to force them to give; they will be stirred by God to bless you. When you touch a man’s heart, you have literally touched his pocket. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matt 6:21) 2. Understand that some substantial people will come battered and shattered Most times, your helpers will first of all need your help when they show up. It is your anointing that will raise them to the place where they can help you. They are like the Jephthah’s company of vain men in Judges 11:3 and David’s company of distressed, indebted and discontented men that went out to him in the cave of Adullam in 1 Sam 22:1. No doubt, at the inception of any ministry, it is these set of people that will gather unto you to prove your call. But as you begin to captain, train, nurture and prophesy them to their greatness, they will become your mighty men that will do anything to get you “water to drink when you need it” (2 Sam 23:15-16). Whilst waiting for the “rich amongst the people” to come unto you, do not neglect the “not so rich” who genuinely believe in you and possess the seed of greatness in them. Sir, you need these two categories of people to fulfill your ministry. Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. And thou shalt have goats milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens. (Prov 27:23;27) 3. Communicate clearly to them your Vision and Expectations: Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge. There are some cases where the Holy Ghost will lay it in someone’s heart to bless you and there are some certain cases where you have ask them yourself. …Yet ye have not, because ye ask not. (James 4:2) When Jesus met Peter, He told Peter expressly what He wanted and He got it. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simons, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. (Luke 5:3) 4. Gather them once in a year to bless them and show them what the Lord is doing with their giving. People like to know and see what God is doing through their giving. Apart from showing them appreciation and getting them excited, it is also a form of accountability. Note; ensure that is a dinner where food, laughter and sweet worship is served. I have noticed that people give more when their stomach is full, their hearts are merry and their spirit is tuned!
