Plus ça change, plus cest la même chose ~ Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr While the War to End All Wars certainly didnt achieve that noble goal, this brief act of civility and camaraderie between opposing armies,...mired in frigid, collapsing trenches - exactly 100-years ago today - is a bright spot of historical trivia we should all note and celebrate. It is noteworthy that the military commanders CONDEMNED and feared these acts of compassion, as expressed by the young troops - many of them conscripts - in a war caused by hubris, nationalism and dying royal alliances of Europes ruling dynasties and despots; triggered on the streets of Sarajevo, by the act of a Serbian assassin of Austro-Hungarian royal heir, Archduke Ferdinand. Sadly,...little has changed - apart from the royal bloodlines, which have faded from the world stage; only to replaced by Corporate Plutocrats and obscene hereditary wealth... Older men declare war.
