THE NEED FOR INCLUSION OF SOURASHTRI IN SCHEDULE VIII OF THE CONSTITUTION I am posting the introductory part of a bill. Details: The following Bills were introduced in Lok Sabha on 25th July, 2014:—BILL NO. 22 OF 2014 A Bill to provide for the compulsory use of mother tongue in imparting basic and primary education to children in all educational institutions and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto. UnderDefinition: (d) mother tongue means the language generally spoken in the family of a child who learns it from his mother and other family members and which is one of the languages mentioned in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India; Pl. those who have keen interest in preserving “Sourashtri and also legal experts are requested to point out if the latter part “and which is one of the languages mentioned in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India;” ´will be in any way contrary to the provisions contained in the existing Article 29(1) of the Constitution of India. Article 29(1) in The Constitution Of India 1949 (1) Any section of the citizens residing in the territory of India or any part thereof having a distinct language, script or culture of its own shall have the right to conserve the same
