PART VI 2 THESSALONIANS 2:6-7 And you know What is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one Who now holds him back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. Can Christians accelerate the coming of the man of lawlessness or the anti-Christ? The passage above describes that the Power that is holding back the man of lawlessness from being revealed is the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is described in the neuter gender in Hebrew in the first sentence above. He is referred to as What as the power that is holding back the man of lawlessness from being revealed. In the next sentence the Holy Spirit is referred to in the masculine gender and referred to as Who as the power that is holding back the man of lawlessness from being revealed. Why is the Holy Spirit referred to in two different genders when described as the power that is holding back the man of lawlessness from being revealed? The answer is in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit when restraining the man of lawlessness. In the first sentence above where He is described in the neuter gender as What, the Holy Spirit is described as the force or power that is holding back the man of lawlessness. In the second sentence above where the Holy Spirit is described as Who, which is in the masculine gender, the Holy Spirit is described as a Person of the Trinity inhabiting Gods people, who are being used to hold back the man of lawlessness from being revealed. The Holy Spirit, described as a Person inhabiting Gods people in holding back the man of lawlessness from being revealed, will be taken out of the midst (mesou) of the people who are being used to hold back the man of lawlessness. How will the Holy Spirit be taken out of the midst of Gods people so that the power that is stopping the man of lawlessness will be weakened, thus allowing the man of lawlessness to be revealed? He will be taken out through the great falling away, apostasy, or rebellion, of Gods people as described in these passages. When that happens, the man of lawlessness will have the power to arise and reveal himself to the world. This shows how critical the role of man is in restoring this world. We have to realize that God will work more and more powerfully through people who are completely surrendered to Him. God needs yielded vessels through whom the Holy Spirit can work, especially in these end times when Gods people are called to begin to establish and restore Gods Kingdom on earth. The power of God at work within us to overcome the enemy, depends to a large extent on how yielded the people, who are Gods vessels through whom the Holy Spirit will work, are to the Holy Spirit. GALATIANS 2:20 clearly describes Paul upon reaching spiritual maturity as saying, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The Life I live in the body, I live by the faith of the Son of God Who loved me and gave Himself for me. The importance of this co-laboring with God cannot be overemphasized, especially in these critical end time fierce and brutal battle with the forces of darkness which will result in the overthrowing of Satan from His throne (REVELATION 12:11). Yes, brothers and sisters in Christ, we can accelerate the revelation of the man of lawlessness. Did not mans actions always affect the things in this world since the Garden of Eden? GLORY TO GOD!!!
