THE NEED FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH - 4 C. God Provides Knowledge Many disputes, misunderstandings, and quarrels arise because people lack the spiritual Knowledge to understand one another. This is one reason God commanded us to grow in Knowledge. But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (II Peter 3:18). True Knowledge includes Understanding and Moral Wisdom. As we grow in the Knowledge of the LORD Jesus Christ, we grow in Understanding and Wisdom. We encounter many spiritual problems because we are unable to discern Gods Moral Principles. As a situation or a decision is presented to us, we say, Ill do this. I cant see anything wrong with it. However, this is precisely the problem. We are blind; our inner eyes have not yet been opened to see the error of our thinking. It is only when our Knowledge has grown sufficiently that we are able to discern the basic Moral Principle involved in any particular situation. We must look beyond surface-reality and determine the underlying Principle before we can make a right judgment —one that will be acceptable to God. Surely, we need to grow daily in the Knowledge of the LORD Jesus Christ and in the Moral Principles of the Law He came to fulfill.
