THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SST SST FIXING THE LOOSE ENDS...... PART 1 Some weeks back I was taken with elation when I was given a new appointment....a higher one really, and a higher office in Naija does not necessarily translates to higher responsibilities - sometimes it does - but it is sure to bring u extra privileges.....and no better privilege can u get than when u get some extra help from the side to wipe away the sweat of hard life off ur brow....u need it if naija is ur home. ...the economy in this part of the world has never been easy.....seems we are in an everlastin economic crisis since IBB announced an economy emergency period in 1986 that was to last just for 15 months and lift the economy out of difficulty ....now the economy is still struggling 28 years after......and the economic recovery programme just kept changing hands and names without showin any sign of the intended recovery...a case of keepin the same face, without bringin any of its promises....so u can understand why I need some extra help on the sidelines to stay afloat...as all else seems to be drownin u know I love IBB and his sense of humour.....he knows just where to have the last laugh...his fuel subsidy programme which was planned to last us just six months before the refineries are brought back to life is now in its 26 year run with no end in sight.....the man seems to know this land space located in a tiny a corner of Africa called naija even more than the British that created it....when it comes to naija whatever it is u got to do to further ur interest, just start it witout any fear of being stopped because all other things will be added unto it.. .well, let me leave the elder statesman alone to face his life – or what remained of it...to be seventy years old and living in a large castle with as many rooms as the number of years in ur age is enough trouble of its own I should say! Back to where I left our gist - So I was happy to beat an escape from Abuja....not sad to leave the city really as I always have problems fittin in, its always hard in such a city, for some people.. I mean livin in a synthetic environment is always a big problem for salary earners like me, so when they said leave, I jumped at it!.. ...but it wasn’t long when I found myself brought back to the city and in a state worse than even when I left....and the only thing I had left to do about that was what I always do at such a time - to give thanks..... is that not the commandment? Give thanks in all situations u find urself?’.......well, is so easy to obey that when u buy a brand new car but is hard to do the same if the new machine is stolen the next day!....but whatever it was, I still gave my thanks and with that life went on..... At the time I came back to Abuja my good friend happened to finish his law studies in the Uk – United Kingdom or is it United Island now?....he came back home to do the law school progamme at Bwari, a small settlers town at the outskirts of Abuja......seeein he did not need any distractions at school he decided to park his new super class Honda coupe with me as he faced the rigours of aligning white and black in his law classes ...been left in charge of such a beauty always brings out the better side of me...and nothing good at a time like this than visiting friends that I aren’t seen for some time, to find out how they were doing...and for them to see how I was doing too.....I guess my friend’s new ride should tell them that! I decided to start with Jude....Jude works in an Insurance firm..and he had been disturbing me about taking a life insurance policy, but I never gave it a serious thought - maybe because the word policy always sends a shiver up my spine....if u know what I mean! Or maybe it was the thought of putting aside a little of my hard savings fund for an agent to manage for me for an event I wont be there to witness that did not appeal to me .....but these days with Boko Haram here, Islamic State fighters rampaging there...I decided to give it a thought....is bad enough to die in the hands of these contemporary butchers....but is even worse to do that as a poor man....... with a life insurance policy one will not be caught in such a bad situation of leavin behind a red bank balance for relations to settle....with a life insurance policy there will sure be some thing to be left behind for the family...at least to let those that cared for u to know that they did not waste their emotions on u... TO CONT...
