THE NEW PATIENTS I will write the whole story of the Ebony boy - TopicsExpress

THE NEW PATIENTS I will write the whole story of the Ebony boy later and will post his progress as we carry on. This was nobodys fault, it was a freak accident and now we fix him. His owners did everything right, he went straight to the Vet. He is not the only one. This afternoon I took in a heavily pregnant girl. I listened with half an ear to the story because I had to look at her and make quick decisions. There were 3 chinchillas. Yesterday they found 2 dead and her lying still. They wet her ears and tried to force her to drink. She didnt drink. Today she she was bought here. She has heatstroke and it is extremely serious. I will not elaborate on the rest, it will be ugly. Im making progress but it is most likely too late. She is now in a cool room on her own where she cant be disturbed. I got her to start drinking and there is a bit of improvement. The damage is already done. She will probably die through the night but Im not giving up. She drinks very little at a time so I feed her a few drops every 15 minutes. Finally after hours she pooped for the first time so i got her bowels moving again. It doesnt mean she will recover. With heatstroke the damage is right into the cells. It means nothing to just rehydrate them. She needs electrolytes, Vitamin B and Vitamin C. She is also in shock. It doesnt look like there is brain damage but we have a long way to go. What complicates matters is her diet. People dont listen. it is food similar to mine but it has Kellogs Corn Flakes and other rubbish mixed into it. I already explained this. It means whatever little good might have been in the food is useless on cellular level. She is overweight, even with the dehydration. She got no hay at all. All this left both her central nervous system and her immune system extremely vulnerable. She is strong, the others were probably not related to her. Ill let you know tomorrow but it would be a miracle if she makes it through the night.
