THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGES HISPANIC LEADERSHIP AND ACHIEVEMENT EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUP (HOLA) AND EL DIARIO/LA PRENSA UNVEIL NEW BILINGUAL TOOLKIT TO UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL MARKETS Bilingual Financial Literacy Initiative (New York, NY) Financial institutions, private investors, students and educators from across the world will have a brand-new teaching and learning resource for understanding financial markets: a bilingual introductory toolkit (English and Spanish) published in partnership by the New York Stock Exchanges (NYSE) Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA) and El Diario/La Prensa, the longest-publishing Spanish language daily newspaper in the nation. The 20-page publication titled Understanding The Financial Markets: A Bilingual Toolkit, was written by renowned financial journalists Alvin Hall and Tania M. Lambert, with support from the NYSE and El Diario/La Prensa. The initiative is part of El Diario/La Prensas 100th Anniversary celebration. Much has been written about the growing Latino economic power and the increasingly noticeable role of Hispanics in financial markets across the world, said Rossana Rosado, El Diario/La Prensas Publisher and CEO. But while we celebrate many achievements, we also acknowledge the need to bridge the financial literary gap between the Hispanic community and financial markets. This toolkit is a fantastic resource to help raise awareness about how financial markets work. Established in 2012, HOLA is an Employee Resource Group at the NYSE that celebrates and promotes Hispanic professionalism at the Exchange, and helps educate the greater community about Latino/Hispanic culture. The bilingual toolkit, which will be inserted in the print edition of El Diario/La Prensa tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29th, will also be available for free download at the NYSEs Corporate Responsibility Website, https://nyse.nyx/financial-literacy/financial-fitness/resources. It provides a basic introduction to the most common investments and financial strategies, and key terms. It also includes a resource guide, charts, and colorful illustrations. El Diario/La Prensa was established on October 12th, 1913, as a small publication in Lower Manhattan called La Prensa. Currently owned by ImpreMedia, the publication merged with competing daily newspaper El Diario de Nueva York (Est. 1948), to form El Diario/La Prensa as it is known today.
