THE NEWS AT 11:00 AM President Yoweri Museveni has directed public universities to scrap off “irrelevant” courses that do not contribute to National development such as Bachelor of Conflict Resolution and Bachelor of Women & Gender Studies saying such courses could be made papers under other programmes such as Political Science. Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who has been the commandant of Kampala Metropolitan Police, has been appointed the director of police operations, replacing Mr Grace Turyagumanawe who has been moved to head the new office of Peace Support Operations, which has been created under the office of the Inspector General of Police. Uganda together with Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have joined efforts to strengthen security around Virunga Forest Park.The three countries are holding a two-day Greater Virunga Trans boundary Collaboration (GVTC) meeting in Kampala, to come up with joint measures to strengthen the security around the protected area across borders.
