THE NEXT JIMI HENDRIX. Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix is a 1993 album recorded by various artists in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. The artists were drawn from many genres of popular music. Contributors include his classic rock contemporaries Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and blues man Buddy Guy. Slash colaborated with Paul Rodgers and Band of Gypsys rendering I Dont Live Today. Band of Gypsys consist of Hendrix band mates, Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums. The song produced by Eddie Kramer, the same guy with whom Jimi Hendrix worked on Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold as Love, Electric Ladyland, Band of Gypsys, and The Cry of Love, as well as the posthumous Valleys of Neptune, People, Hell and Angels, Miami Pop Festival, and all other releases produced through Experience Hendrix, the organization formed by Hendrixs legitimate heirs. Billy Cox, Buddy Miles and Hendrix recorded Band of Gypsys, a live album recorded on January 1, 1970, at the Fillmore East in New York City. Slash also played with Mitch Mitchell in Jimi Hendrix Tribute in UK Rock N Roll Hall of Fame 2005, performing Hey Joe. Mitch is Jimi Hendrix drummer during the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He died on 13 November 2008.
