THE NO. 1 COUNTRY SONG (JANUARY 25, 1967): Tennessee-born Jack Greene hooked up with songwriter Dallas Frazier (the same man who wrote the Oak Ridge Boys 1981 classic Elvire) to perform There Goes My Everything. The song hit No. 1 on the country chart quickly, spending seven weeks at the top, including this day 48 years ago. Englebert Humperdinck turned the song into a pop Top 20 hit later in the year and in 1971, Elvis Presley made this song a Top 20 country hit once again.
