THE OBSERVER EDITORIAL SPEAKS OF THE GRIM REALITY THAT FOOD BANKS , HANDOUTS , JOBLESSNESS ,...... DEPRESSINGLY WE HAVE MADE LITTLE PROGRESS IN THE LAST TWO HUNDRED YEARS ........ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but , how could we the humans have when we have rather unwittingly given impetus to jingoism through colonialism and then world wars , then cold war , rearmament and detente???? just calculate the waste we - all the countries in the world - spend in defense each year . suppose pacifism were the sincere policy of statecraft , had the same amount been invested in research and development of the national issues , the progress and development rate would have been staggering , but no we r , in our anxiety and superiority complex of being one-uppity over the other , rather unwittingly slipping into the Gaderine swine of the Bible story , while our under-privileged brethrens grovel under the tableaux of poverty and squalor . cant say this as philosophy of poverty or poverty of philosophy but it definitely is the POLITICIANSS PROFIT ON POVERTY SANS PHILOSOPHY
