THE OLD PATHS - Part 1 TEXT: Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV). "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein." INTRODUCTION 1. The Old Testament is filled with many lessons for the Christians... a. It was written for our learning - Rom. 15:4. b. It was written for our admonition - 1 Cor. 10:11. 2. One such lesson is that found in the days of Jeremiah... a. A time of religious and social turmoil. b. The nation of Israel was being pulled in many directions. [The Lord wanted to offer them rest for their souls (Jer. 6:16 ). Using the imagery of travelers who have lost their way, the Lord calls for them to ask for the old paths.] I urge you to meditate on the text today and we continue the study proper tomorrow.
