THE OVERATED EMIR :I am just choking myself with laughter while reading a lot of updates which tends to overate the traditional stool of Kano Emirate by assuming that Sanusi Lamido Sanusis pronouncement as the new Emir is giving the presidency jitters... just imagine the naivety of this people. The head of Kano Emirates is no doubt, revered and important by the Kano indigenes and to Kano indigenes respectively just like the Ehugbo OmakaEjali is my identity. The national respect and recognition garnered by Alhaji Ado Bayero of blessed memory had more to do with his maturity, personal character, Longevity on the throne, Neutrality on presiding over his duties and Non-Partisanship in politcal matters than just being the Emir. If these qualities were applied to choose a new Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi doesnt fit in by all means but thats the headache of Kano indigenes. However, distracting the all powerful Nigerian presidency with exaggerated importance of the Emir of Kano simply because the ever offensive Sanusi Lamido is named the new Emir is tantamount to pulling the tail of a Lion that is peacefully asleep and that is too dangerous for a man whose charges for financial recklessness as CBN governor is still at the court. I see him being deposed before he relaxes on that local stool except if Kano can afford an Emir in jail. If I were his adviser, I will caution him to maintain a low profile until the case is decided. As for the politcal relevance of the Emir of Kano, here is what my brother and friend, Slik Omezue had to say about it I want Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to be made the emir of Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Bauchi and also the Sultan of Sokoto, if that is possible, so that we would see the things he would do to this govt. Nonsense! Chai !
