THE PATH TO PRODOM Informative post on the process to become a pro in the organization of your choice: From the time that we were kids, everyone has dreamed of being the best at what they do. Their dream job, sports or a movie star. Typically, thats what we wanted to attain at some point in our future. Percentage wise, most often we do not make it to Hollywood or the NFL so to speak, but on a few rare occasions, there are a few that have the intellect, tenacity, focus and work ethic to pull it off. To actually, quantitatively be the best of the best in their chosen field. So in the world of body building what does that mean? There are probably 4 or 5 organizations out there so what is the difference? It is a forgone conclusion by the mainstream international fitness industry that IFBB is the NFL of bodybuilding. That is undeniable! But why? Without naming names I will briefly outline the process of the other organizations. I will admit up front that I am not an expert on them and I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong. In the second and third largest organization you can go to one local qualifying show show and be a Pro!!!!! From what I understand. If it is a pro qualifier you need a minimum of 5 in your class. Thats right 5! If you win you are a Pro! actually Pro Elect That means you have to at least attend one national show to activate your pro status So in short you could go to one show. Beat 5 other athletes, Make the journey to Mecca and you are a bonified Pro in that organization You can officially add that to your facebook name :) NPC / IFBB In Texas we have 18+ shows a year. A portion of these are national qualifiers. Typically if you want to be an IFBB pro you come to one of several of our local national qualifiers. You will most likely have around 20+ athletes in your class. These are not your hobbyist or newbies. This is a qulaifiers. The people are serious because they want to become eligible to compete on a national stage. They are also from the largest and best from the best state in the country, bringing their A game. To become eligible in Texas is not easy. An athlete must place first or second in their class out of a lot of competitors to just be eligible to attend a national show. In terms of attendance for an NPCTexas Qualifier most often you can expect over 200 athletes on the low end and 600 athletes on the upper end. If you win your still not a pro! Nope! You just won permission to compete. Thats all. No one ever changed their Facebook to the coveted John Doe National Show Qualified Attendee Then you must attend the IFBB National show to compete for that Pro Card. This means you were the best of the best in Texas. This process happens in every state. When you go to an IFBB National Show on your quest to become a pro you must place 1st or 2nd in your class against the best in the country. Lets put that into perspective. The NPC / IFBB just help the NPC Nationals in Florida. This show had 972 competing for the right to call themselves an IFBB Pro. against those odds Texas earned 18 Pro Cards in one of the biggest shows of the year. I realize that some will think my post is slanted toward the organization I work for and there is an agenda for this post. Thats not the case. To each their own, and there is a place for everyone to compete and be a pro in bodybuilding. My point is that all things are not created equal in this instance. If my facts are not correct please post a correction and play nice. There is a bible verse from when i was a kid that comes to mind. Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. No I am not trying to compare IFBB to godliness but you can see my point! Nothing worth having is easy. And person to person easy is a relative term , Its all about perspective :-)
