THE ‘PENTECOST VOICE’ JULY 23 JULY: FESTIVITIES DAILY PILOT – Send me helpers for the journey to be easier and smoother, Acts 18:5 JULY 23, 2014: BE A CHRISTIAN “The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch” Acts 11:26 (NIV) Why were they called Christians? They were so called, because of their resemblance of Jesus Christ in their way of life; in their conversation and the work of saving souls. Jesus expects this when He said “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” John 13:15. So, whether you are having a celebration or you are attending one, be a Christian. Do not for any reason compromise your stand. Jesus attended many feasts, to which He was invited and would not live contrary to His conviction. He taught freely in the house of Pharisees who invited Him; He related with a sinful woman and even forgave her – things that the Pharisees would not take, Luke 7:36-50. He thus set an example on how to live; how to relate with sinners and save them. Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego were eventually forced to attend a feast for an idol but they would not bow – they remained a Jew and believer in the only true God, YAHWEH, Dan. 3. Do not be a Sunday-Sunday Christian; don’t be a Christian by name, by carrying bible or being a worker only. Be a Christian everywhere, everyday – be like Christ. Live the word of God and thereby prick the conscience of those around. May be, by God’s providence, your stand will be used by Him to convert them even as the King Nebuchadnezzar got converted to the only true God – YAHWEH, for he said – “Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon” Dan. 3:29-30. Don’t trade with your birth right like Esau. Don’t fear them, they are the one’s to fear you. You have YAHWEH behind you, in you and for you. Go and live like Jesus – be a Christian. BE WISE – Stop misleading people as you stage or attend a celebration. Be a Christian – thereby teach them practically how to do it. PRAY – Empower me to be a Christian indeed.
