THE PLATINUM RULE OF RELATIONSHIP: Part 15 of Relationship Coaching. Everything created in the universe has a rule. Failure to obey the rules can lead to malfunction. So is relationship; it is governed by two RULES – The Golden Rule and the Platinum Rule. - The Golden Rule says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. - The Platinum Rule says, “Do unto others as they want to be done unto”. If you want your relationship to last long, live by the PLATINUM RULE instead of the GOLDEN RULE. But that does not mean you should avoid the Golden Rule completely. According to God’s Word, whatever you sow you shall reap. If you sow love, you reap back love and that is the Golden Rule. So how do we sow love? We sow love by doing unto others as they want to be done unto instead of demanding them to love us because of our GOOD DEEDS to them. Good deeds are not enough to demonstrate how much you love a person. But practicing the Platinum Rule, you can be assure of experiencing a lasting love. We are all unique; don’t expect your partner to be like you. You both have different needs and interest. Also, you all come from a difference set of life, circumstance experience, culture and family background. Therefore, you are mandated to… 1. Love them how they really want to be loved. 2. Treat them the way they want to be treated. 3. Tell them how you want it to be done unto, instead of allowing – guest work, assumptions, misunderstanding to gain ascendancy.
