THE PROFILE OF DR. PHILIPS NTO HIS BIRTH AND FAMILY: Dr. Philips Nto Okpo Okore was born on the 28th day of October 1971 in Ukwuakwu, Ututu, Arochukwu L.G.A of Abia State. He is married to Mrs. Chioma Philips Nto (Star Mummy) with four children, Uchenna, Rejoice, Tochukwu and Chinemerem Nto. HIS EDUCATION: Dr. Nto attended Ututu Central School, Ututu and Ututu/Ihe High School, Ututu, “between” 1975-1986. He then proceeded to University of Nigeria Nsukka were he obtained his B.Agric certificate in 1995, his M.sc and PhD “between” 2003-2010 both in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. He holds a Diploma in Project Management March, 2011 from the Galilee International Management Institute, Israel. Dr. Nto has attended several international academic conferences in France, U.S.A, London, Kenya, South Africa etc. He is a member of many academic/Professional bodies both in Mouau and beyond, Member, Asuu Mouau, Member, SERVICON, Member, Planning Committee on the 6th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Society of Indigenous Knowledge and Development, he was the Chairman, Local Organising Committee of Foundation stone laying ceremony/launching of Centre for Gender and Child Development of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (Mouau) on 16th Nov, 2012, Chairman, Finance Session of the Annual Paris Conference on Business and Social Sciences, June, 2012 in Paris, France. He was the Chairman, Planning Committee of the “2013 Gender Stakeholder’s Summit and Award Ceremony” on 24th May, 2013, which His Excellency the Executive Governor of Abia State Sir. T.A Orji (Ochendo Global) was one of the awardees. His membership to so many professional bodies include: Member, African Finance Growth Institute, Member, Agricultural Society of Nigeria, Member, Agricultural Economist Association of Nigeria, Member, Farm Management Association of Nigeria, Member, World Business Institute, too numerous to mention. He has to his credit over 40 publications to include Journals of both local and international, Main-Line Textbook, book chapter contributions and conference proceedings. Dr. Philips Nto who is a senior lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, student friendly, diligent in teaching, a great researcher and time conscious is teaching over sixteen (16) courses in both undergraduate and post-graduate students of the University. His consistency, love and compassion for students earned him an Award as the “Best Lecturer in 2013” by the National Association of banking and Finance Students (MOUAU Chapter). He is the Deputy Director, Centre for Gender and Child Development, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. HIS COMMUNITY AND AD-HOC SERVICES Dr. Nto is the Chairman, Ututu Development Association, Umuahia branch, Resource Person for the Abia State Government and INEC in the Proposal for Declination of State and Federal Constituencies in 2009, Chairman, Project Implementation Committee of Ukwuakwu Bore-hole Project Under Abia State Community Poverty Reduction Project (ABCPRP), World Bank Assisted Project 2005-2006), Chairman, Board of Governors, International Academy of the Assemblies of God Church Primary School, World Bank Housing Estate, Umuahia, 2010 till date, Chairman, Project Committee for Upgrading of Ukwuakwu Ututu Feeder Roads. Community based Project, 2009 till date, Monitoring of Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Abia State, 5th April 2010, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Ward Collation Officer (Isu Ward Arochukwu LGA) for National Assembly Election 9th April 2011, INEC Ward Collation Officer Eleoha Ward for Presidential Election 16th April 2011, INEC Returning Officer for Arochukwu State Constituency Election 26th April 2011. He has supported and contributed to so many political developmental activities in his community and beyond and has also been a source of inspiration and encouragement to Ututu youths and Arochukwu L.G.A in general in which he wrote a paper titled: “Education: A Panacea to Youth Restiveness in Ututu” Being invited paper presented in a programme organised by Ututu Youth Forum (UYF) on the 31st Dec, 2012 at the Ututu Central School, Ututu, Arochukwu L.G.A. HIS CHRISTIAN LIFE Dr. Philips Nto is a member of the Assemblies of God Church, World bank housing estate, Umuahia, Abia state. Because of his love for the things of God he wrote and presented a paper titled: “Investment and Investment Decisions: The Challenges to Christians”, Being Invited Lecture Delivered in the Prayer Conference of Assemblies of God Church, Umuahia district with theme: Divine Visitation, on 8/9th January, 2013, At AGDSN, Old Umuahia, Abia State. HIS BUSINESS LIFE Dr. Philips Nto has been involved as a resource person in the following consultancy services in both Federal and State Ministries. Organisation of HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign, 2006-2010 Programme Organised by Abia State Government to Mark World AIDS day, Total Polio Eradication Campaign in Abia State in 2005-2010, Programme Organised by Abia State Government to Mobilize Nursing Mothers and other Stake holders to Participate in the Yearly Polio Immunization programme, Organisation of Security Awareness/Entrepreneurship Campaign in All Wards of the 17 LGAs of Abia State In 2009. A measure Adopted by Abia State Government to Educate Youths and other Stake holders on the Dangers of Kidnapping, Malaria Roll-Back Programme through Fumigation of Health Centres and Primary Schools in Abia State in 2009, Organisation of Local Governments’ Children’s Exchange Programme, In View of 2010 Children’s Day, Organisation of Value Re-Orientation and Re-branding Rally For The General Public In The 17 LGAs of Abia State In 2010, in Collaboration with Abia State Government, Organisation Of Environmental Sensitization Campaigns Of The General Public in Abia State on Environmental Pollution And Litter Control; The Keep Abia Clean Initiative in 2010, Training of Farmers on the Adoption and Use of Modern Farming Techniques and Improved Varieties in Abia State in 2010 and 2011. A Programme Aimed at Preparing Farmers for the Yearly Cropping Season, in collaboration with Federal and Abia State Government, Supervision of Refuse Disposal and Desilting of Drainage Blocked by Garbages in Urban Areas of Abia State, Organisation of Public Lecture on Peace Building Support in View of April 2011 General Election: A Violence Free Environment Initiative in Nigeria (March 2011) Organised by Menenco Investment Ltd in Collaboration with Abia State Government and INEC, Organisation of Public Lecture/Workshop on “Violence Free Society: A Panacea for Sustainable Development, Held for Youths at Aba and Umuahia (2011), Organisation of a Sensitization Campaign on Cholera Prevention in the 17 LGAs of Abia State. A Public Health lecture Held to Forestall Future Outbreak of cholera in Abia State (2011), Organization of Workshop Entitled “Community Participation and Local Initiative for Environmental Protection and Litter Control in Aba and Umuahia”. A programme held in Aba and Umuahia to Mark World Environment Day (June 2011), Organization of Workshop Aimed at Harnessing the Economic Potential of Aba Through Change Orientation of the Crafts Men and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises for the Growth of Abia State, Organisation of a public lecture/enlightenment in some States of the Federation on “Community-Driven Development Initiative and Poverty Reduction Strategies”.(September 2011), Organisation of Sensitization Programme for Abia Youths to Participate in the Federal Government/World Bank Youth Empowerment (YOU WIN) Programme. His involvement in consultancy services within the State and Federal Ministries is so alarming and he is striving to do more. AND NOW His zeal, humility and hunger to serve humanity have earned him an appointment as a commissioner in Abia State by His Excellency, Sir. T.A.
