THE PROPER FORM OF BAPTISM IN WATER --- The appropriate form of baptism is in the name of the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit as Jesus appointed him in Matthew 28:19 : Go therefore and make disciples of all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit , the clear command of Jesus is baptized that way. But if this is so, why then we see many examples in the New Testament where people were baptized in the name of Jesus ? - Acts 2:38, Peter replied, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit . Acts 10:48 : And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus . Then prayed they him to tarry certain days . Acts 19:5 : When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus . - The reason why they baptized in the name of Jesus is because that was the formula but because the phrase in the name of means in authority . We can see evidence of this in Acts 4:7-10 : and them in the midst , they asked, By what power , or by what name , have ye done this ? 8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers people and elders of Israel : 9Puesto today if we are on a benefit done to a sick man, that means he is made whole; 10sea known unto you all , and to all the people of Israel , that by the name of Jesus Christ Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed . The Jews asked, By what power or by what name , have ye done this ? Peter answers and says it was in the name of Jesus that they had healed the man. In other words , in the name of Jesus means that it is by the power and authority found in Christ . We can see this use in many places in the New Testament. Acts 3:6 : But Peter said, Silver and gold I have not , but what I have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 16:18 : And this she did for many days But Paul , he turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her . And he came out the same hour. 1 Corinthians 5:4-5 : In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ , when you are assembled , and my spirit , with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, deliver such 5el to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus . 1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified , but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. Ephesians 5:20 : Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ . 2 Thessalonians 3:6 : Now we command you , brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ , that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly , and not after the tradition which he received of us. As you can see , in the name of Jesus Christ and in the name of Jesus talk about in the authority of Jesus. Therefore, when someone is baptized properly , being baptized in the name of Jesus , that is, by the authority of Jesus. Therefore, when they are properly baptized in the name of Jesus, they should say, I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the way Jesus commanded . - The word name used by Jesus in Matthew 28:19 in Greek also means Title ( See Walter Bauer , William F. Arndt and F. Wilbur Gingrich, in his masterpiece A Lexicon of the New Testament . 1971 . Chicago. Page 576 . ) This word was used the singular is used distributively , which means it was clearly established that there was only one name. When the Bible says In the name literally means under the authority of the name a phrase that was often used in those times . When Peter said, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins in Acts 2:38 he refers to the person to be baptized under the authority that is in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins. What Peter was leaving emphasized here was that the person was baptized after giving effect to the Great Commission that Jesus , in His authority ( or the authority which has its name) , authorized the disciples to baptize . Jesus also instructed them how to do this . In other words , for the protagonists of the book of Acts , on the authority of the Name of Jesus Christ , baptized under the authority of Jesus Christ both in worship and in service of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit . The history of the Church confirms that baptism was always done in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit . - Go therefore to the people of all nations and make them my disciples : baptize them in the name of the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit ... Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38 respectively - In spiritual matters , Jesus claimed absolute authority when he said, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18 ) . Then he ordered : Go therefore and make disciples of all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19 ) . - Some modern sects tell us that those who have been baptized in Matthew 28:19 should be baptized again, but only in the name of Jesus ,and nothing else! Such sects thus proclaim that baptism in Matthew 28:19 is invalid . - These sects teach that Father , Son and Holy Spirit are just different titles which refer to the same person. They say that Jesus is at the same time, the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit . They reject the baptism based on Matthew 28:19 because they do not believe in the Father or the Holy Spirit . - Sects Jesus only say that one must be baptized according to Acts 2:38 , so obey the injunction of the Apostle Peter, be baptized ... in the name of Jesus Christ. But it is obvious that Peter always had in mind what the Lord Jesus had commanded the apostles . In no way did Peter the Father and the Holy Spirit . Five verses earlier , Jesus told Peter about and having received of the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out . Undoubtedly , Pedro did believe in three persons. - Throughout the New Testament can be seen clearly that the Father and the Son are distinct persons . When Jesus was baptized , a voice from heaven , saying, This is my Son ( Matthew 3:17 ) . Before his death , Jesus told his disciples, I go to the Father ( John 16:16 ) . Stephen, martyr of Christ , in his last moment of life , and saw the glory of God , and Jesus standing at the right hand of God ( Acts 7:55 ) . - The sects of Jesus only say Lord Jesus Christ is the same as Father , Son, Holy Ghost. You can easily verify that this is not true . The Holy Bible in Romans 15:6 says, glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Also 2 John 3 confirms this when he says : Grace be with you , mercy , and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ , Son of the Father. - Throughout the New Testament, one can see the error of the sects of Jesus only . You, on your own reading of the New Testament , you will see that there are three persons: the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit . The individual who is baptized only in the name of Jesus , with the intention of denying the existence of the three people , definitely been erroneously baptized and joined a sect human . Such a person should study very carefully the New Testament to come to understand the truth
