THE PROPHECY OF THE COMING OF THE MESSIAH On this lesson, the chosen scriptures will primarily explain themselves. In Honor of the Day of Resurrection, lets go backwards and look at events prior to the Crucifixion and Ressurection. Hopefully, this will better give an understanding of how the Old Testament relates to the New Testament. ENJOY! (Its a little long, but if you follow through, you will understand. Thank you Lord for guiding me on this lesson). Gen 3:14-15 The LORD God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. (15) I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. (God tells Satan of the coming of the Messiah) Gen 49:10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the rulers staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples. (The messiah would come out of the tribe of Judah) Num 24:17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth. (The Messiah would be a descendant of Jacob). Psa 22:16-19 For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet— (17) I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; (18) they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. (19) But you, O LORD, do not be far off! O you my help, come quickly to my aid! (Prophecy of the crucifixion, bones not being broken which went against Roman practice, and the tearing of the robe). Isa 7:13-15 And he said, Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? (14) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (15) He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. (The messiah will be a descendant of David and born unto a virgin). Isa 53:5-11 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (7) He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. (8) By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? (9) And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. (10) Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. (11) Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. (Purpose of the coming of the Messiah) Jer 23:5 Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Hos 11:1 When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. (The Messiah will be called out of Egypt). Mic 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. HOW TO PREPARE THE SIN OFFERING WHICH EXPLAINS THE SHEDDING OF THE BLOOD Lev 16:15 Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it over the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat. (There were also directions on peace offerings, burnt offerings, and guilt offerings. Note the instructions on the blood in the above verse). There were three things that God commanded in lieu of the animal sacrifice which is as follows: 1. The animal had to be spotless. (Yeshua was pure of no sin) 2. The person offering the sacrifice had to identify with the animal. (Yeshua offered himself so he identified with himself) 3. The person offering the animal had to inflict death upon it. (For God so loved the world that he gave His only. . . .) Hebrews 9:22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
