THE PULL HIM DOWN SYNDROME ! I am really bordered about our people. Can you imagine oniovo Samuel Ovbigho Omogor in-boxing me saying that I created UPF just to get into politics for my selfish interest! Well, I will not be deterred. On the road to Damascus, Jesus encountered many distracters. I will remain focused. You can think whatever you like and you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. But let me set some records straight, the Urhobo People Forum was created by accident. About three years ago, I was promoting Urhobo issues on LIBERATE and the admin kept deleting it claiming that it was too tribalistic. I therefore, got angry and created the Urhobo People Forum so that more Urhobo issues can be discussed! If in doubt, you can confirm from Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro and Stephen K. Dieseruvwe himself! For those that know me personally, I am passionate with whatever I do and people recognise my effort whether I like it or not. I established the first modern barbing salon in Ughelli town as far back as in 1983 called ‘The Playboy’ (while still a student doing my A/levels in Government college, Ughelli). It was the best in town being the first salon to be air conditioned and use electric clippers! I was angry that such good salons like the then ‘CHOICES’ existed in Lagos, why not in my Urhobo land? Also, as far back as 1986, I founded the UGHELLI STUDENT UNION (USA) and our first project was to educate Ughelli youths of the danger of the Aids virus. I had travelled to Germany for a students’ conference and listened to speeches about the devastating effect of the Aids virus. “I need to warn my people”, I promised myself! Olorogun Fred Majemite was my director of organization and he worked tirelessly on this project. While at the university of Lagos, I became the National coordinator of International exchange program in charge of all Nigerian Universities. Through my position, I helped over 20 Urhobo youths to travel to Canada, the US, UK, Germany, Sweden etc. Some of these people are in this forum as I write! I have lived in Canada and Europe since 1991. I have done business and created jobs. I have gone to school and partook in researches, witnessed firsthand, how functional education can transform and develop a nation / people. I am trying to replicate these discoveries here. Can you follow my ambition? Easy; whatever I see outside that is good, I want it for my urhobo people. If you like, accuse me of politicking and try pulling me down. You are not my GOD and you will NOT succeed!
