THE PYRAMID HAD NO FOUNDATIONS All those fools out there You bought them Invested their capital Hours of labour Dubious transactions Emails deleted Misplaced memos Phone calls evaded Meetings back dated Clients waiting for the big reward Told they were the wired rabbit not the numbered dogs chasing You believed you were on the inside not out there standing on others’ heads or being crushed from above or bumped and shoved from the sides You were standing on the pinnacle; the top of the pyramid: hey, no one mentioned cap to you Yet, there were all those trinkets that came your way every time to began to hesitate; question and doubt the trinkets quickly made you refocus the riches that were coming your way all you had to do was wait and you were in a relationship with one of the scheme’s architects; so were four or five others if you only looked The morning came and you woke up No one in the bed next to you Their car and your car too missing from the driveway Your partner’s clothes no longer in the draws or hanging on hangers Every picture of them gone; vanished Eleven am Sunday You realised you had no money in your wallet sweating into your pockets You headed to the ATM which ended with you screaming, realising, remembering what your partner use to tell you, “All the clients and employees they’re just herd animals. Domesticated to be harvested once fattened for the yards” You finally understood the truth You were just a pet sheep no dog was needed to herd you into the stock yards to be butchered What will you do now? I ask you.
