THE QUIET REVOLUTION A miracle happened this weekend. Vigilant Americans have won a critical victory in curbing a massive federal government which has gradually grown out of control. Hundreds of Americans rallied around Cliven Bundy. Now, Cliven Bundy may in fact be in violation of federal law. He may owe the government of the United States a fairly hefty chunk of change. That is an issue for courts to decide. The victory is not about Cliven Bundy. The victory is about the fact that when the United States government bypassed the due process of courts and turned to rustling Mr. Bundys cattle, hundreds of armed Americans turned out from the several states to put up a unified front of resistance. There was a collective stand against thuggery perpetrated by government agents. In essence, hundreds of people stood together to say, NO! This is not due process. I am incredibly proud of those people who took arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing (more or less) ended them. Cliven Bundy may still be in trouble, but that is an issue for courts to decide. Give pause to consider that cattle rustling was once a hangable offense. The true beauty of this is that a precedent has finally been set. For the first time ever, armed citizens have successfully banded together to stop rogue government. What is amazingly beautiful is that the objective was accomplished without the situation erupting into violence. What we have seen in the past with incidents like Ruby Ridge and Waco is a government which has used overwhelming force to crush its opposition. Americans banded together to counter that force, becoming an immovable object. Therein lies the true power needed to reverse the tide of tyranny which has been silently creeping into the political landscape. Thuggery is unacceptable. We will have due process. We will have a fair and impartial system. Quiet acquiescence will no longer be the norm. We now have an alternative: stand together and demand reasonable rule of law, offering senseless bloodshed as the alternative to refusing what is supposedly guaranteed by the system. Those brave and vigilant Americans who stood together know that bullies ALWAYS back down in the face of significant opposition. It is time for the meek to inherit the Earth. Alan Jay Wescoat
