THE ROCK N ROLL MESSIAH ? THE SECOND COMING ? Theres been a few good comments made on FB (certainly not enough!) since the recent TV screening of the unbelievable series of unexplainable events which all seemed to fall into place sealing the fate of a talented and humble star, making the story of the enigmatic musician Sixto Rodriguez remain a huge secret to the whole of the world, apart from South Africa, right up until the late 90s! Even almost 20 years on in 2014 and the release of the film it is only now that people around the world are starting to become more aware of him. How can something like this happen in this day and age? I personally know and knew radio DJs who moved from Radio Luxembourg and worked on radio in SA/ Johannesburg, back in the 80s. They must have known of the legend, I stayed in touch with them, they never mentioned Rodriguez to me? It is almost as if the music business (Pontius Pilate) washed there hands of him, and sealed his fate. If you havent seen Searching For Sugarman, I strongly suggest you do. Rodriguez ran for Mayor of Detroit once, and didnt even come close. I bet maybe if he ran again now hed probably win. But then people there still dont know who he is, so maybe not? Has the movie been shown in the US? Surely it has? Is he at least known by some in Detroit now? Has he been on Letterman? Or The Tonight Show? Does anyone know? I feel sure he must have been by now? But then was anyone watching the night he was on? Knowing this guys story probably not. If you watch the movie, you will find him to be ultimately humble honest hard working and through thick but mostly thin managed to raise three fabulous daughters who he educated for free through museums and libraries. He is not bitter or angry. Just totally humble. The man seems to be a virtual saint? LIFE SURE IS A CROOKED MAP MADE UNDER TWISTED STARS. VOTE RODRIGUEZ FOR US PRESIDENT !
