THE ROLE OF AESTHETIC EDUCATION In the Formation of the Comprehensively Developed Personality =============================================== Aesthetic and Artistic Education is one of the means for developing Personal Propensities and Talents and, thereby, for moulding comprehensively Developed Personalities. It would be a Crass Simplification to interpret the Ideal of the All_round Development of each individual in the sense of Equalisation or Levelling_off. As Engels underlined , the Proletarian Demand for Equality is Confined to the Abolition of Classes: If driven further than ...... the Equality of the Proletariat, i.e. if conceived abstractly, Equality becomes an Absurdity . ( Anti-Duhring p.409 ) ( Emphasis added Y.H ) Hence one can understand the criticism of immature, Barrack_room communism with its doctrine of asceticism and the suppression of the individual and talent. It is precisely All_round Development that is the soil in which Personalities can flourish naturally. And Artistic and Aesthetic Education as a whole is Direct Participant in this From what has been said one can conclude that Aesthetic Education, though relatively independent form of education , does not perform narrow , localised tasks, but ensures important prerequisites for All_round, Harmonious Development of the Personality., It is not merely a good intention but an Objective Necessity, and stands Not at the Periphery of Educational Work, But at the Very Centre . __________________________________________ THE ROLE OF AESTHETIC EDUCATION IN THE PROGRESS TOWARDS A NEW REALITY BY :: V.P.
