THE RULES OF DEMOCRACY MUST NOT BE MISINTERPRETED By ----- Tombra Sunday Though the general conception of a true democracy is majority as the utmost criteria for actualization of its contents but becomes absolutely a misconception if the voice of the minority is undermined or not heard. If the Northerners want their demands imposed at the expense of others because of their numbers, then the dichotomy between them and the Southerners becomes more apparent which no doubt, brings faster the demand for disintegration. If the continuity for One Nigeria must be encouraged, then these monopoly of consents, absolutism and domineering attitude of the Northerners all in the name of principles of constitutional democracy must be discouraged. The call for Jonathans resignation because of Boko Haram activities is not only absurd, uncalled for and nonsensical as Chairman of Niger Delta Nationalists Forum, Mr Seigha Manager puts it but also undemocratic, unconstitutional, wickedness, deliberate objective, irrational and a total injustice. I must commend him for his uncommon courage and outspoken critical analysis. Yes, democracy is purely on majority rules but the rules must not be misinterpreted.
