THE SCOTTISH REFERENDUM Last night my sleep was disrupted by my excitement of the success of the Cyberbunk Story Bundle, which includes three of my novels! storybundle/cyberpunk Dear friends, I believe I channeled a news story from an Alternate Earth. Id like to share it now with the world. THE GEORGIA REFERENDUM On September the 18th, 2014, Georgia, a state of the United States of America and one of the original 13 American colonies will vote on the issue of whether or not to become an independent country. Georgia, with a population of 10,000,000 people (about twice the population of Scotland) is the eighth most populous state. “This year marks the 150th anniversary of Shermans March at the end of the American Civil War, a vile and despicable testimony to the evil men can do,” said Rufus T. Fogbottom, leader of the True South Conglomeration. “And I say, may that anniversary be celebrated away from the yoke of tyranny that is the U.S. Federal Government.” While there has been no comment as such from President Obama, he has sent former President Jimmy Carter down as special ambassador. Carter, himself a Georgian and ex-Governor of Georgia issued a statement. “I believe what they want is to obtain the wealth of all the peanuts and cotton, the off-shore oil rigs and the buried pirate treasure on the Atlantic coast and make sure that Georgians receive their proper share, rather than the country.” Under present understanding, would this vote for independence win in Georgia, the U.S. Dollar will be retained (although there is discussion of joining the Euro or even bringing back Confederate money). The U.S. Would still provide defense for Georgia, however troops of former Union troops would be banned. State government would become national government. A special version of the U.S. Constitution would be written with a rewritten version of Bill of Rights coming foremost, with special emphasis on the right to bear arms, including Uzis and hand grenades, along with the right for every Georgian to a free pick up truck, a harmonica and indoor plumbing. There are divisions of the True South party. George Kingfish of the Amos N Andy Mystic Knights states his eventual plans. “Yessuh, once we get our state back, we wants all the scattered disporta to know dat dey can come home and be free! Alls dey gotta do is let us borrow 200 dollahs which we pay back, honest Injun!” Perhaps most controversial is the New Vocational Party, led by Professor Henry D. Barber of Mulatto University in Atlanta. “It is my sincere belief that some of us Georgians might best be served by entering service ourselves. Now some people call this slavery. It is not! These people will be fed, educated and trained, in return working in our peanut and cotton fields and keeping alive some fine traditions. And mind you, only white trash from trailers and very dark skinned African Americans with odd names like Oprah or DeTom need apply!” Finally, perhaps most beloved is the New Ministry Crystals Society. These are black individuals who put on white face, plaid gingham skirts and play the adored Appalachian bagpipe. Still, at last count, the chance for this referendum seems slim. “I believe quite candidly,” said Ambassador Carter on MEET THE PRESS. “We will vote to stay in the United States. Hell, what do you think we Georgians are? Stupid?”
