THE SOUND CURRENT TAKES US TO INNER DIMENSIONS As one progresses in the practice of Sound-reception, or listening to the strains of the Inner Harmonies, ones soul withdraws from the nine sense organs of the body and enters into the spiritual regions of Supra Brahm. This state is also known as Sehaj-Samadhi - that is, supra-physical peace and bliss, and identification with the Ultimate Reality. The spirit maintains this condition from this point up to Sach Khand (the Soul Plane - mt). Such a condition, however, is beyond the three attributes of harmony, activity and inertia and can only be realized through the grace of a true Adept. (Sawan Singh. Discourses on Sant Mat. RSSB 1963/1993. Pg. 128) This is a lovely, concise point about how the Sound Current (aka Shabda, Naam, Ruach, Kalma, Word or Holy Spirit) is the key to withdrawing our attention from the outer senses and taking it up and in to the spiritual regions. When you understand this principle it is eminently simple and makes complete sense. The Sound Current flows out of the Heart of the Eternal - creating all that is - and then returns to ITs (and our) Source. By simply placing our attention upon the return flow of this Spiritual River, IT - of ITs very nature - lifts us up and in, and takes us Home - because that is simply what IT does. IT flows Home. And if our attention is in harmony with IT, IT will carry us Home as well. This is why - to me - Surat Shabda Meditation (focusing the attention of the soul - Surat - on the Sound Current - Shabda) is the simplest and most efficacious means of inner transport and exploration. It is almost deceptively simple (the mind tends to want to overthink and complicate things) - and yet in its simplicity it is incredibly powerful. Please take some time to think about this, bring it into your meditation, and ask for an experience showing you first hand how IT works.
