THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE- HONOURABLE POWELL TOS OJOGHO.Adventure means the act of going out in search of the new and the unknown. In our country the desire for adventure is rare. To do a thing without any ulterior motive, without the prospect of deriving any profit, is not foreign to our nature and temperament. True adventure lies in facing all the troubles and risks of running after the unknown merely for the joy of it. It send out a challenge to our spirit of heroism.It appeals to our strength of mind.The call of the unknown should appeals the spirit of our leaders because it does thrills and excite one.Is there any risk trying to remove the veil that keeps something hidden from our knowledge in Isoko? Let us take that risk and bring it within the range of our knowledge.Is the difficulty that lies in the way of discovering the unknown too great? We will overcome the difficulty and triumph over all obstacles in Isoko if will imbibed the spirit of adventure. That is the spirit. Dangers and difficulties are only the whetstone that sharpen the edge of our endeavour. Our leaders seek local and foreign women, as their kind of adventure, they even seek foreign massage as a form of development, what a shame.Their other adventure is to fill their bank accounts to the detriment of the people. What is happening in Isoko? Leader adventure should strengthen and add to his people, to shift from the old ways of doing things, to the new kind of leadership that we sustain their act of development. The spirit of adventure is essentially of the west. So great is this love of adventure in the people of the west that they are not afraid to sacrifice their lives in its pursuit.Know isoko leaders is ready to sacrifice something for his people, rather they want to take from the people.The wilds of Africa or the desert of central Asia hold no terror for them, the west is an epitome of true adventure. Theres no doubt that the spirit of adventure, has a great effect on a mans character. It makes a man brave and hardy and of an indomitable temper.It makes him master of his destiny. It teaches him to be bold yet cautions, enterprising and yet calculating, daring but not foolhardy. There is something of the gamblers instinct in one who seek the unknown; he takes chances, it is true; but he must never be foolishly rash.He must know how to balance his means against his end. Isoko leaders doesnt know how to balance their means against their end, hence they go broke. Something has to be admitted that a change is noticeable in the system, and that change is honourable powell tos ojogho.This is a man whose spirit of adventure is to add not to destroy. In one of the conferences, he said, his adventure in constituency one, Isoko south, delta state, Nigeria is simple, to add to the people, expecially in the area of education ,because political independence was bound to result in mental independence, and he will always listen to the elders and leaders, expecially when they disagree, as for the youth they should revive their spirit of adventure, because they will seek new adventures together.And as the horizon of the mind widens, we will respond to the ideal of FRED SMITH - WISDOM is the correct use of the truth in the knowledge which we have.
