THE STAFFORDSHIRE & WESTMIDLAND TEAM KNOCK-OUT --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNLUCKY DEFEAT FOR THE SHREWS ------------------------------------------------------- After being in huge tailbacks after a car fire shuts M54 the Shrewsbury Snooker Team took it into the final frame against Wednesbury after wins from Phil Ryan/ Callum Wraight & Steve Shingler to just go down 4-3. THE MEDIABOX SNOOKER TEAM COMPETITION 3rd ROUND --------------------------------------------------------------------- ADAMS PULLS THE PLUG ON REMAN A ------------------------------------------------------------ REMAN D (+ 40) 222 v HARLESCOTT A (Scr) 273 In the first Tony Antrobus scored 38 but was well beaten by Adrian Rowe 38-80. A big turn round in the 2nd Derek Jones out played Steve Maddox for a excellent win 75-38. The 3rd put Harlescott back in the Driving Seat when Neil Thomas lost to Roger Davies 40-67. In the last Neil Wilson tried but was well beaten by Callum Wraight 29-88. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMAN A (Scr) 134 v STANTON A (Scr) 210 This was a poor performance from both teams only Steve Adams was in top first Division form. Reman had a great start Mike Barnsley was in good potting form pulling well clear of Simon McLeod until trying a set one red until another. After that Simon was outstanding with his potting and getting good snookers pulling off an unbelievable 53-47 win. The 2nd saw two off form players fight it out with Dave Davies losing to Tony Watkins 23-53. The 3rd was like the second until Brilliant potting by Mark Blomfield finished it off beating Lee Barker 54-30. Mark put Reman back in the Match with only 12 in it. On last was Darren Pierce playing Steve Adams but Steve never gave Darren a chance. With outstanding potting & safety play he took Darren apart to win 74-10. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HARLESCOTT C (+ 80) 265 v REMAN F (+100) 343 Bev Highfield lost out in the first to Dave Nichols 35-56. The 2nd looks like being an excellent frame when Lisa Yeats just lost to Steve Farmer 58-79. In the 3rd Angle Murch was beaten b y Bob Chatham 35-58. In the last Tracy Williams did very well in beating Len Turford 57-50 but by this time the bird had flown and Reman were in the next round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMAN H (+ 30) 269 v HARLESCOTT B (+ 50) 238 Martin Travis set this match alight getting a 28 break in winning 71-57 a very good frame against Garry Williams. The 2nd saw a brilliant potting performance from Haydn Cross in getting a 21 break he beat Colin Vaughan 89-22. The 3rd looks like a poor frame with both players not scoring well in the end Stuart Dryden just beat Paul Richardson 35-20.In the last Dave Thomas set about pulling 66 points back against Gaz Hughes. With some excellent potting he took a very good lead but Gaz came back with a few of his own. to keep the score down losing 44-89. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEACONSFIELD C (+ 60) 228 v MEOLE BRACE A (+ 20) 335 The first saw Dave Fisher take on Richard Taylor and get beat by some excellent potting b y Richard in winning 92-36. The 2nd was a defeat for Geoff Killingsworth 48-68 playing Glyn Wellings. In the 3rd Pete Morris was well beaten by the excellent potting of Darren Watkins who won 100-40. The last was tight Mike Ryder just falling short 44-55 to Adrian Jennings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEM UTD C (+ 80) 286 v REMAN E (+ 80) 253 In the first Colin Smith had a good 25 break in defeating Terry Burgess 60-30. The next frame was very tight Josh Whittall just missing out by one point against Trevor Beamond 45-46. Derek Wright then just lost the 3rd 38-42 to Bob Grocott. Wem still 25 points in front. The last looks like a good frame with Tim Breese trying to pull that 25 back. In the end he just lost out 55-63 to Mike Fielder. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEACONSFIELD B (+ 20) had a walk-over REMAN G Never turned up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONSOLATION TEAM COMPETITION 2nd Round --------------------------------------------------------------------- BEACONSFIELD A (+ 50) 263 v BAGLEY B (+ 60) 219 Jim Wood soon found himself 45-9 down against Mike Beer who had a good 27 break, but Jim kept going and managed to regain some suitable points for his team by only loosing 42-65. 2nd frame It was good to see Ceri Richards potting some good balls in his game against Andy Judson. Ceri made a 23 break during this frame and gained valuable points towards the aggregate in winning 89-22. 3rd Frame this game between Graham Archer and Adam Jones could have gone either way but Adam came out on top. This still left Beaconsfield 14 in front on aggregate. Graham lost 33-53. In the 4th Pete Archer showed some of his old style during the frame against Craig Elson. Pete run out an easy 49-19 winner. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONDOVER A (+ 90) 270 v UNISON E (+ 60) 291 Clive Hasted started the Lads off with a win just 48-44 against Paul Birch. Then Duncan Bellingham lost to Mike Hughes 33-62. In the 3rd Darren Hasted was beaten 40-63 by Kevin Ebrey. At the back Mark Potter just lost a good scoring frame 59-62 to Alan Thomas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ REMAN B (Scr) 198 v PRESTON BROCKHURST A; (+ 30) 247 Four tight frames & Reman never won one. Ian Evans lost to Hugh Rowlands 42-45 after Hugh had a 23 break. Then Ian Ferriday was beaten by Glyn Buckley 50-54. In the 3rd Dave Ferriday went down 53-60 to the inform Arn Mulligan. At the back Mark Mason lost to Alan Trowsdale 53-58. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEM CONSERVATIVE A (+ 60) 269 v BAGLEY C (+ 30) 213 A very good win for the 2nd Division side. Gerald Hughes took the first beating Mike Jones 45-34. In the 2nd Pete Broomhall was well defeated by Paul Morgan 32-72. In the 3rd Adam Batha was in form taking Nigel Morgan apart with a 81-18 win. Oliver Broomhall just lost the final frame 51-59 to Gary Prosser. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OLD SHREWSBURY A (+ 50) 197 v MEOLE G (+ 40) 225 The Shrews go down to the G Slingers. Tony Preece lost the first to Andy Wigginton 33-56. The 2nd was a tie Between Danny Christmas and Peter Price 50-50. Reg Jones then put the Shrews back in the match with a 44-19 win over Pete Taylor.
