THE STUDENT PROBLEM WHILE READING To tackle a problem effectively, the root of that problem must first be discovered. Attempting to tackle a problem without first discovering the root is like trying a symptom of a virus instead of the virus itself. This can only provide temporary relief and not a permanent relief. Many student waste precious time reading so much but remembering so little. This is basically the reason for student’s failure in an exam. They thoroughly read and learn the whole chapter of a book, but are totally blank when asked questions on that chapter. The reason for this problem which every student face is that, when they read something two processes are working with them. 1. The reading process.2. Thinking process we are reading with our eyes and also thinking with our mind. When these two process do not work in accord then there is a break in concentration and our mind start jumping to other subjects while we continue with our reading, but no impression is left in our mind. Our eyes are moving but our mind is somewhere else. Other thoughts are occupying the mind. Therefore, after reading, when we try to recall, we are incapable of doing it. This is because our eyes and are our mind are not moving in a coordinated manner. We feel that we have read everything but actually we have read nothing. Other thoughts keep our thoughts keep our mind busy. Solution 1. Concentration The best way to develop interest in any subject is to concentrate on it. Full concentration while reading a particular subject brings out the best in that subject. But of reading is being done without concentration then it is impossible to develop interest in that subject. 2. Observation If you love clothes, your attention will immediately go to the cloth a person is wearing. You observe the latest cut, and the tailoring. Later, whenever you come across a person with similar dress, the picture of that dress and every detail related to it will flash across your mind. If your observation can make you retain these things, then why not your studies?
