THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED—4th excerpt from Ch. 15 of BOOKS WRITTEN IN STONE, VOL. 1: But John Anthony West goes a little too far when he contends that as translated and accepted by Egyptologists, the sacred texts of Egypt are meaningless (136). Actually, there are times when the Egyptologists renderings are serviceable, as has been demonstrated in this volume—and yet, they are working under a genuine burden by not being familiar with the temple endowment and by making false assumptions that result in totally misleading translations. One of these false assumptions is that hieroglyphs enclosed by what is called a cartouche always spell out the name of a pharaoh. Hilary Wilson describes a cartouche as an oval shape, in the form of a loop of rope . . . (Understanding Hieroglyphs 14). Does she or any other Egyptologist know why a loop of rope was used? The reason can be found in The Book of Enoch the Prophet where Enoch sees ropes given to angels. He is informed that the angels use the ropes to measure the righteous and to strengthen their words, and that the measures shall reveal all the secrets in the depth of the earth (Laurence, LX:1-3 and 5-6). One of the secrets contained within the cartouches is that not all of them enclose names. Lets take Khufu, for instance. There are 4 hieroglyphs that the Egyptologists translate as Khufu. These hieroglyphs depict a disk with several horizontal lines drawn across it, a quail chick, a horned viper and a second quail chick. Page 91 of Zauzichs Hieroglyphs without Mystery has a drawing of this cartouche, but it is better to see the photo of the cartouche which is reproduced from page 25 of Nancy Jenkins The Boat Beneath the Pyramid. The photo is of a stone that contains the actual cartouche. The important detail left out by Zauzichs drawing is the number of lines across the disk. Zauzich has 3, the photo shows 6. What is the significance of 6? It represents man antagonistic to God. How does that apply here? We will see. Egyptologists are stumped by this disk with its 6 lines. Zauzich, for instance, on page 119 of his work includes the disk along with other Signs of Doubtful Origin and after the disk he has written Placenta followed by a question mark. Mark Collier and Bill Manley, authors of How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs, also have placenta with a question mark in parenthesis, but willing to make another guess, they include beneath the single word placenta the phrase ball of string, again followed by a question mark in parenthesis (138). Christine Hobson in The World of the Pharaohs has sieve, followed by a question mark (159). Samuel Mercers Handbook of Egyptian Hieroglyphs, revised and expanded by Janice Kamrin, simply identifies the hieroglyph as a disk; there is no mention of the lines across its face (4). Here is what the disk is related to: [Following a plague of locusts, after which the pharaoh still refused to set the Israelites free,] the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt. So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. (Exodus 10:21-22) Behold, the day of the Lord comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate: And he will destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light: The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine. (Isaiah 13:9-10) Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. . . . (Mat-thew 24:29) Now it was about the sixth hour [of Christs crucifixion], and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. Then the sun was darkened. . . . (Luke 23:44-45) Then the fifth angel sounded: and I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottom-less pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. (9:1-2; italics added) The disk with lines across its face represents the sun being darkened because of the wickedness of the people who reject Christ. (Incidentally, the moon will not give its light after the tribulation of the last days because the moon represents Enoch and for 3½ days Enoch will be dead, his light completely extinguished on the earth during that time.)
