THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND FACTOR IN LOCAL TERRORISM: First it bothers - TopicsExpress

THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND FACTOR IN LOCAL TERRORISM: First it bothers me that the PNP spokesperson on Karen Davilas show (this morning) said that the only two places anyone can learn about building a bomb is either a govt sponsored training facility OR a terrorist oraganization trianing camp. Obviously the PNP spokesperson may not have heard about this thing called the internet where cookbooks and how-to-manuals for the up and coming wanna be bin laden. Second, the other thing of interest is that the three bombings seem to be a lot of effort for the average Filipino hit. Cotobato style (car bomb) bombings in the Philippines used to be reserved for high profile targets ( Congress, St valentines Day Bombing) and not for "small time" provincial hits. This makes me wonder. If the whole world is getting tighter on terorism and the information on how to build an effective bomb more available, are the terrosits going retail? If they are, then is the expert bomber now cheaper/easier to hire? And if they are, then is the potential for expert terrorists to be used on local, very high profile and very hardened targets (usually unreachable by the average Bomber Joe) more likely in the coming days? Just some lazy thoughts on a not so lazy monday coffee break.
