THE TENTH STRAY OF CHRISTMAS Layla is a scrumptious Gagla - TopicsExpress

THE TENTH STRAY OF CHRISTMAS Layla is a scrumptious Gagla (Spanish Greyhound) puppy of approximately 10 months of age and 22 inches to the shoulder. She was rescued from a kill station in Spain and has been left with a head tilt where a grass seed was left untreated in her little ear and has also sadly had to have her tail amputated due to a nasty infection. The lack of half a tail by no means, means lack of wiggle though and when she is happy her whole back end goes wiggly! When Layla first came to us she was terribly thin but has managed to put an impressive 3.5 kilos on in the last month with her foster Mum giving her good food and plenty of TLC. Location: In a foster home in Norfolk. Key Points: Playful , submissive, cheeky, bouncy, friendly, shy, can be very nervous of new people or experiences, gentle, responsive to basic training, travels well, 98% house trained and asks to go out, can be left with other dogs for company for a short time, great with other dogs and speaks very good doggy language for her age. Takes time to get over her fear of men but once she trusts you she will love you tenfold. She is also very frightened of loud noises and roads so is mainly on garden exercise until she builds up her confidence. ~ Personality ~ Layla is gorgeous full stop. She looks a little different with her head tilt and half a tail but my goodness whoever gets to adopt this cheeky, sweet baby will be lucky! She has come from a really terrible place and her new family must be willing to show patience and bear this in mind, especially with her fear of men but once she trusts you she will love you with all her heart and for life. Layla loves women and children and playing with other dogs but is very intuitive when they have had enough or if she is in their personal space and will leave them in peace when they tell her to. ~ In the Home ~ Layla has done brilliantly well settling into her foster home and is 98% clean. She will pace when she needs the toilet so her new family must watch her closely and become familiar with her body language. She sleeps through the night with no bother whatsoever and can be left for a short time with at least one other dog for company. ~ Other Animals ~ Layla LOVES other dogs of any size or age and loves to play tug-of-war with the Rottweiler in her foster home. ~ Out and About ~ Layla is still very nervous of noises and busy roads and a harness and lead MUST be used at all times if leaving a safe garden area. It is still early days and with a loving and patient family she will come on in leaps and bounds. ~ Galgos as Pets ~ In general Galgos are very calm and mannerly dogs when they reach maturity. They can fit into a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment and they are generally all small dog friendly. ~ Where Can I Live? ~ Layla will need a super special family who love her and all her little imperfections and have the patience to help her overcome her fear of men and noisy situations. Because she has been through so much trauma already it must be a loving and committed forever home please. Please also be aware that we do not re-home any dogs to families with children under 8 years of age. ~ Where Am I? ~ Layla is currently in a foster home in Norfolk. She can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home-checker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Norfolk to both meet and collect her. ~ Want To Adopt Me? ~ Layla is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, de-flead and wormed. A home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure. If you think you are the perfect home for this scrummy puppy please email me [email protected] or phone me on 075 000 62648
