THE TINNED LOBSTER POISONING Mr and Mrs Jones lived in a pleasant Victorian house with two servants. Mr Jones was a handsome man of about 50. His wife was a rather plain woman of 35. The first of the servants was Mrs Joness companion, Emma, and the other was Gladys, the housemaid. Emma was 60 years old and somewhat lazy. Gladys was your typical young house servant girl. Mr Jones was a traveling salesman, and it was rumored he had a thing going with the young and lovely girls in the village. Specifically, there was a rumor in the village that Mr Jones was having an affair with the doctors daughter, a sweet young lady named Jezabelle. But they were said to have broken up three weeks before. One fateful evening, Mr and Mrs Jones and the companion had dinner together. They ate tinned lobster, triffle, cheese, and bread. Mrs Jones was feeling ill after dinner, so she asked Emma the companion for a bowl of oatmeal, which she hoped would settle her stomach. She was in bed, and the oatmeal was brought up to her bedroom. Not long afterwards, Mr Jones and the companion also became sick -- and they sent for the doctor, who said they had food poisoning from eating the lobster. The maid, who had prepare the meal, swore that the lobster was perfectly fresh and healthy. Mr Jones and the companion recovered, but Mrs Jones died. This would have ended it except that one of the housemaids at the hotel where Mr Jones had stayed during his last sales trip contacted the police. She had cleaned his room after he left the hotel and found a piece of blotting paper where he had blotted an ink letter that he had sent to someone unknown. The housemaid had held the blotting paper up to a mirror and was able to read part of it: It all depends on my wife ... Hundreds and Thousands ... when my wife is dead... Giving in to public pressure, the authorities exhumed the wifes body and, to the doctors surprise, found it to be full of arsenic. But everyone had eaten the same meal !! How could the wife get arsenic and the others not? MURDER !! Inspector Abhishek of Scotland Yard is assigned to investigate the case, using the rest of you to help as other members of the investigation team. Good luck. .
