THE TRADITION CONTINUS AND IT IS UNFORTUNATE. I must sincerely say and without fears of any persecutions that, the behavior of my senior Mallams at one of our best Islamic schools, is not part of Islamic teachings. Their refusal to always go inline with the majority is not part of the RASUL(saw) SUNNAT. If they want to tell us that, they always have to sight the moon by themselves before fasting or observing any EID, then they have their own way of determining how to do things, and not what the Quran and the SUNNAT of the RASUL teaches us. When the Old man( May ALLAH have mercy on him) was alive, we were saying that, it was because of his age. And that after him one day things will change for better. Not knowing that, even the so called, learned and SHUYUKH at helm of authority now, are even more conservatives than the old man himself.(May he rest in peace) These Shuyukh at this respected school of thought, are learned scholars. You cant take that from them and I respect their talents,. And they know what the SUNNAT of the RASUL says in a situations like this. For a crescent to be sighted there are 3 steps to that: 1. sighting the crescent. thats everyone can see the moon clearly. 2. Hear from a reliable persons or group of people.(MUSLIMS) 3. Or complete the month for 30 days. In this situations, since the whole world has celebrated the EID yesterday, I think anyone who follows the teaching of the prophet Mohammed shouldnt have fasted yesterday or in other words should have observed the EID yesterday (even you have fasted 28 days). The hadith they always quote, to support their stands, we all know them, and the rules are clear. The Question we always ask ourselves about the These Muslim brothers behavior are: 1. why always taking a different stands different from the world? 2. Dont they believe in anyone but themselves? 3. Or they also have their own Calendar like some people do? The problem of my senior ones at this respected school of thought lies in the following AYAT. I will say it and will nor fear vilifications or persecutions from anyone. The Quran says: Whenever some people are ask to change this is what they say: بَلۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ۬ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِم مُّهۡتَدُونَ Nay! They say: We found our fathers following a certain way and practices, and we guide ourselves by their footsteps. (43:22) ( so they have their own tradition) Really, tradition is a disease sometimes. The Mallams or SHUYUKH at the hel of authority there must change. their behavior is not SUNNAT and thats not what Islam teaches. they are following a TRADITION rather than SUNNAT and . And it is unfortunate . But, I still wish them belated EID MUBARAK DAY. MAY ALLAH ACCEPT OUR IBADATS.
