THE TRUMPET SOUND. In Israel, trumpets are usually blown to signal the start of great festivals and other extraordinary events (Numbers 10: 10). In like manner, God’s trumpet will sound at the Rapture when the living saints would be caught up with those who died in the Lord, to meet Christ in the air. This is the greatest event of all ages that the Church is awaiting for. With the imminence of the Rapture, the Scripture reveals the conditions that will prevail in the world. These include emergence of many false prophets and false christs deceiving unsuspecting believers, wars and rumours of wars, global economic difficulties, pestilence, earthquake in diverse places, persecution of Christ’s followers with cases of martyrdom, increased backsliding of many from the faith, greater love for pleasure and merriment than for God, and skepticism by many Christians about Christ’s return. The Rapture will occur “in the twinkling of an eye”, without a moment’s warning. To qualify to make the Rapture, the sinner must be born-again and live a transparently holy life. He/she must live a consistent Christian life till the end or the time of the Rapture. Careless and compromising Christians will not partake of the Rapture even if they have been long in the church, or are workers and are baptized in water. While the believers who have been raptured are gathered together with Christ at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb to receive rewards for all they had done on earth, sinners and backsliders will be left behind to experience the Great Tribulation when the wrath and judgment of God will be poured out without measure. The Antichrist will also unleash a reign of terror accompanied with destructions, frightening wars and desolations. To escape this terror, sinners and backsliders MUST REPENT QUICKLY AND EMBRACE CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOUR. Believers MUST REMAIN PRAYERFUL, WATCHFUL AND ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD.
