THE UNIBEN VC BUILDING DEMOLITION TAKES NEW TWIST... Friday, 9 January 2015 Breaking News: Alleged UNIBEN Demolished Property Was Sold To THe Benin Crown Prince For those of you who have been following the recent Uniben Saga, here is an update that will interest you. There have been controversial sides as to whether the governors demolition action was right or wrong. to those who feel they know the law better, claim the governor is the first citizen of the state and so he is empowered to do whatsoever he deems fit with properties under his control. (well, im still waiting for them to send me sections of the constitution that confirms this claim) However, going by our findings and according to documents at our disposal, the story goes thus. 1. In 1974, under the then Defunct Military administration headed by the last military administrator of the region, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, a land belonging to the then Bendel Region which comprised Edo and now Delta states were gifted (to use the legal language) to the university of Benin. doc below 2. on resuming office, the governor of Edo state, who apparently had attempted to sell Edo House before now, but for the intervention of the opposition party, civil society group, and other edo sons and daughters who challenged him and defeated him, the governor decided to revisit the uniben case, and laid claims to the property. 3. The University community, apparently embarrassed by the governors claims and attempt to force them out of the property they have occupied for over 40 years, ran to the court to seek redress. 4. The court at first ruled in favour of the government, which then prompted the university to take a step further to appeal the court judgemt in higher court. 5. Now, while the matter was still pending in court, the court granted the school an execution of stay which was suppose to allow them remain in possession of the property pending court appeal judgement. 6. Now while the matter was still pending in court, the governor quickly went and sold the said property to the Benin Crown Prince. (Check dates on document) letter from the prince claiming to have bought the said property 7. Now to the bone of contention, which was brought forward during the cause of demolition and has remained a you versus me question, the state Anthony general says they were not served, the University counsel lawyer says they were serve. still wondering who to believe? check this doc below see doc. below if you look closely im sure you will notice the bailiffs signature on the right hand side below find other documents for the court process below. read more updates here, here, and here and here All matters have their legal perspectives, public perspectives, and private perspectives. but whatever the case, the law supersede all perspectives. Now looking at the documents above, do you stll think the governor was right in his decision? lawyers in the house can give us their opinion on this matter, because as we speak, Uniben would not relent until justice is served. the service acknowledgement as am made to understand
