THE VERY SAME 17 RABBITS ARE STILL ON RED LIST FACING PTS. LAAS “Red Alert” Rabbit Protocol is misleading. a. On May 6, 2014, 17 rabbits were listed on red alert. Red list constitutes a 48 hr period prior to euthanasia. Upon questioning from the public, Barnette stated that these rabbits will be the first euthanized should they run out of space, if more rabbits come into the shelter. b. Rabbits should have equal red list protocols as cats and dogs. Listing 17 rabbits as a warning when the shelters have ample open rabbit cages is misleading. AT THE MOMENT, THERE ARE ONLY 7 RABBITS AT EAST VALLEY SHELTER, THE OCCUPANCY IS 25. ALL OF THEM CAN BE PLACED THERE COMFORTABLY. THIS IS THE CAPACITY OF ALL LAAS SHELTERS. WHY ARE ANY ON THE PTS LIST? LAAS Shelter Rabbit Cage Count and Rabbit Count: East Valley Shelter # of Healthy Rabbit Cages: 21 # of Isolation/Medical Rabbit Cages: 0 Maximum # of rabbits you can house: 25 Harbor Shelter # of Healthy Rabbit Cages: 12 # of Isolation/Medical Rabbit Cages: 0 Maximum # of rabbits you can house: 12 North Central Shelter # of Healthy Rabbit Cages: 20 # of Isolation/Medical Rabbit Cages: 0 Maximum # of rabbits you can house: 20 South LA Shelter # of Healthy Rabbit Cages: 33 # of Isolation/Medical Rabbit Cages: 0 Maximum # of rabbits you can house: 33 West LA Shelter # of Healthy Rabbit Cages: 27 # of Isolation/Medical Rabbit Cages: 0 Maximum # of rabbits you can house: 45 West Valley Shelter # of Healthy Rabbit Cages: 16 # of Isolation/Medical Rabbit Cages: 0 Maximum # of rabbits you can house: 16
