THE VIEW FROM THE CENTRE: Simons imagery is an imaginatively wroth visualization expressing an intimate awareness of environment. Always it is lovingly reflecting elements intrinsic to a life lived close to nature. Its fusion of the internal and external dimensions of the spaces of his dwellings creates a world at once strange, remote, frozen in time and familiar, urgently present and energetic. The works, simply drawn, complexly composed and with fields of colour varyingly dissonant and calmly complementary, are an accommodation of contradiction: a quiet symbolizing of that all inclusiveness of nature, and the psychic wholeness which arises from that universality of a fusion of the real and the imagined. George Simons painting is a new unearthing of the ageless Lokon aesthetic with which his visioning of the landscape reveals an internal man-scape true to very little else but the Indigenous of this region - long present but unfamiliar still, and strangely so youtube/watch?v=WAqeD0sbPWE&feature=youtu.be
