THE VIRTUE CALLED KINDNESS TEXT: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, wither thou goest” Eccl.9:10. Kindness means generosity, charitable heart, goodwill, benevolence, humanitarianism, humanness and compassion. Kindness is a language which the blind can see and the deaf can hear. So, be as generous, as humane, as compassionate, as magnanimous and as hospitable as you can be to everyone you are privileged to come in contact with on a daily basis. Kindness is a seed, if you sow, you will surely reap a harvest. That is not limited to you alone but your children and grandchildren will enjoy from the dividends of your kindness in years to come. Take everyday as your last. Live one day at a time. This does not mean that one will die tomorrow, but taking each day as one’s last helps to live a life pleasing to God and to humanity. It puts a check on you, for instance, if one knows that one will die tomorrow, one will live differently today. See each day as a great opportunity to be a blessing to someone else. Treat and take everyone you meet as your neighbour. The word of God says, love your neighbour as your self. The question is: who is your neighbour? Your neighbour is anyone and everyone you come in contact with in your day to day activities. Your colleagues at work, school, co-travellers, your customers or clients, your next door neighbour etc. Never expect material gains for showing kindness. In fact, reject it if offered, for God is the ultimate pay master. Consider everything you do as being done for God. In Luke:10, the Bible says; so likewise, ye when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, ‘we are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty. So, be as kind as you can be today. The Lord will release His healing balm on every aching area of your life. You will have cause to smile before the month ends in Jesus name.
