A tragic story from the beginning, with a similar theme to Spielbergs Saving Private Ryan, this Australian epic will have its place in Australias cinematic history. Its packed with top-class Australian actors (familiar faces pop up throughout-even Meghan Gale), but the leads, particularly Australian Jai Courtney (Divergent, Jack Reacher), Ukrainian actress Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) and the Turkish actors (particularly Tilmaz) are mesmerising. Written by Andrew Anastasios and Andrew Knight, the story is based on first-hand resources, diaries and official records. Its a story about a fathers love for his family, but it is much more. It sheds light on the tragic cost of war, and more particularly, on the losses that the Turkish endured at the hands of its invaders.
