THE WAY I SEE IT. If you build a house, it becomes yours. You cannot own water in the river. If you draw water and bring it to your house it becomes yours. If you plant maize you can harvest it because it is yours. How can you own land? When did you or your ancestors plant it? Land should belong to all of us. In Tanzania you cultivate land but if you do not next time somebody else does. You will never hear about clashes in that country. In Japan nobody owns land. In Kenya we have real land owners with thousands of acres lying idle. Meanwhile people who want to cultivate are doing it along road reserves. Do you expect clashes to ever end? All these killings we have witnessed at the Coast, Rift Valley, Kajiado etc. are about land. We need to seriously rethink our land policy. It is all about land. Stupid.
