THE WAY OUT You are on the twelfth floor of a fifteen-storey - TopicsExpress

THE WAY OUT You are on the twelfth floor of a fifteen-storey building to transact some business. Suddenly the fire alarm bells begin to ring. As you wonder what in the world is going on, you see people scurrying around, running in every direction and the next thing you hear is an urgent voice on the public address system informing occupants of the building that the first ten floors of the building are on fire! They have called for help but have no idea when help would arrive. All occupants of the building are to stay calm and wait for help, whenever it arrives! You look out through the window and see thick black smoke wafting out of the floors below you. What would you do? Or you are travelling by air 35, 000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean and suddenly the pilot announces in an agitated voice: “ladies and gentlemen, we have lost our second engine but don’t know why. We are doing our best but the situation is dire. We have contacted the control tower at our destination but cannot determine but cannot determine what help they can provide. Meanwhile, please pull out your life jackets and obey all safety directives!” then you start hearing fearful rumblings from the plane’s engines as it tosses and jerks through the sky. Some of the other passengers are in an uproar while others are speechless with extreme fear. What would you do? Or you and your friends are returning from an outing and you are in the middle of the popular Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. Suddenly, you hear a loud screeching noise behind you and you are still wondering what in the world is going on, you hear a big bang from the rear of you car by a big truck. With no time to react, the next thing you notice is that (……have you given a thought to what will become of the land you have bought which you are struggling to develop?) you have been pushed over the railings and you are now floundering in the air as your car heads for a big crash into the lagoon. For the life of you, you cannot swim! What would you do? Have you ever been in any situation similar to the ones described above? What was the first thing that came into your mind at that instant? Your business deal? Your money in the bank? The house you were about to build or the car you were thinking of buying? The new degree you were about to acquire or your promotion in the office? Was it the thought of your neighbor who didn’t respect you enough or your parents who didn’t pay for your education? Your jewelry? Clothes? What else? Or were you just hoping and praying for A WAY OUT? Dear reader, we are already on that twelfth floor of the fifteen-storey building gutted by fire, the distressed plane on the Atlantic Ocean, and the floundering car heading for the bottom of the lagoon, only metaphorically, because these situations depict our present world. The scriptures described man’s condition in these terms as we read in the book of 2nd Peter 3: 10 (AMP): “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish with a thunderous crash, and the element [of the universe] will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.” This scripture shows that our world’s destiny is the fire of judgment. When that happens, have you given a thought to what will become of the land you have bought which you are struggling to develop? What of all the state-of –the-art mansions you are lusting after? What of all the money in the bank, the jewelry and bling-bling fashion for which many are willing to burn their consciences with hot iron? Dear friend, you can escape from this sky-scrapper that is on fire. You can escape from the distressed aircraft in the sky over the Atlantic. Yes, you can escape from the floundering car about to crash into the lagoon. But how? What is the way out? The Bible declares in Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” When sin entered the world, it brought death with it, but Christ brought remission of sins and power to make peace with our Maker. Jesus Christ came that we all might receive salvation having believed in His name (Rom. 10:9) He declared: “I am the door; by me if any man enters in he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture.” [He’s waiting for you but the cares of this life and the power of sin have so far prevented you from accepting His warm invitation……………………] (John 10:9). Yes, JESUS CHRIST IS THE WAY OUT. Thus far you have tried to live it your own way but as you can see, doing it you own way can only lead to disaster. You need Jesus to be saviour, Lord, Friend and Companion. He desires deep personal intimacy with you. He’s waiting for you but the cares of this life and the power of sin have so far prevented you from accepting His warm invitation. “Today, if ye hear his voice, harden not your heart, as in the provocation, as in the days of the temptation in the wilderness….”. You may say, but what about my sins, my past life, they will haunt me. No! Go ahead. Don’t delay, because He says: “I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation.” And…” the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world”. So my friends, having read this tract, are you convinced you need a way out of this burning contraption called earth? If so, in genuine repentance, say in your own words, that you admit you are a sinner; you appreciate Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross as God’s provision for the remission of your sins, and ask for the in-filling of the Holy Ghost. Then look for a Bible believing Church for the correct baptism of water. Welcome into the Kingdom of God. God bless you as you yield to Him in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
