THE WEAPON OF PRAISE PART TWO MEMORY VERSE: “and when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever”( Second Chronicles 20:21). BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 1- Luke 5 How you respond to a word from God or prophecy matters. After God spoke in Second Chronicles 20:16-17, Jehoshaphat did something interesting. The bible records that, “he fell before the Lord, worshiping the Lord” (Second Chronicles 20:18). Jehoshaphat believed the word. He remained in the presence of God, went on his knees, and began to worship. Friend, when was the last time you worshiped God on your knees? When was the last time you forgot about your achievements, big title, fat bank account, and danced before God? When you receive a word of Knowledge concerning your matter, do you start showing off? The word of God says, “It shall be well with you” (Isaiah 3:10), do you believe it? The word of God says, “No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgement, shall be condemned” (Isaiah 54:17), do you believe it? Nahum 7:11 says: “In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed,” did I hear you say a big amen to that? If you believe His word, then, thank Him for His word. The next morning, Jehoshaphat gathered his men and marched to the battlefront. Second Chronicles 20:21 says: “and when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever.” This is contrary to human wisdom and any known battle strategy. First of all, every army wants to conceal its position and employ some element of surprise. How can one sing aloud to battle? If the singers had come after soldiers, it will have been understandable. This king put the priest in their white garments with musical instruments in front and they matched to battle. As they began to sing, heaven moved and the enemies started to fight themselves. By the time they got to the battlefield, the enemies had killed themselves. Praise is a weapon that guarantees an instant victory over the enemy. As the Choir sang, to them, nothing seemed to be happening but unknown to them, war had broke out in the camp of their enemies. As you begin to sing praises to God, it may seem as if nothing is happening, do not stop because war has already broke out in the camp of your enemy. Do not stop praising God because your contractors are already considering extending your contract. Paul and Silas were cast in prison for no reason (Acts 16:24-27). This would have been an opportunity for many of us to question God and give Him ultimatums. Whilst in chains, in prison, hurting, these brothers began to sing praises to God. They sang loudly, Acts 16:25b says: “and the prisoners heard them.” As they sang, suddenly there was a great earthquake, the foundations of the prison shook, the doors of the prison flung open and their chains fell off. No matter your situation today, no matter what you are experiencing, no matter your location, praise will turn your situation. Are you are finding it hard to sleep at night because of that challenge? Whilst on your bed, pick up a song and sing to the Lord. NOTE: Take your eyes away from the mountain. Focus on the beauty of His holiness. As you praise God, ideas you never thought of will start coming, bible verses that will finish of the battle will start coming to your mind.
