THE WHISTLE BLOWERS PROTECTION ACT, 2011 (No. 17 of 2014) The Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2011 (No. 17 of 2014) received President’s assent on May 9, 2014. The Act contains 31 sections in 7 chapters. The Act contains provisions relating to requirement of Public interest disclosure, Powers and duties of Competent authority, safeguards against victimization of person making such disclosure, Penalties, Protections of witnesses and other persons etc. The main aim of the Act is to establish a mechanism to receive complaints relating to disclosure on any allegation of corruption or wilful misuse of power or of discretion against any public servant and to inquire into such disclosure and to provide adequate safeguards against victimisation of the person making such complaint.
