THE WHITE AND THE BLACK LION - A PULPIT MYTH This was one of the heretic teachings l embraced when l was a young Christian. It opines that the believer has dual natures in him (the old man and the new man). It was taught by some holiness preachers that the black lion is the old nature of sin while the white lion is the new nature of righteousness, and that both natures live within the believer, always fighting and causing him to rise and fall depending on who he obeys. This teaching may look like a fact, but not true. Those who believe this myth keep seeking sanctification for years and wonder why the struggles though they are willing to do the will of God. 2Cor 5:17 clearly says if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new The phrase PASSED AWAY is often used to refer to a dead person. At salvation, the entire Godhead, the whole heaven with all its power moves in to the heart of the believer. The dead spirit of the sinner immediately comes alive, his dead conscience receives life too and his blind eyes gets enlightened, the old Adamic nature of sin is evacuated as a big tree, not truncated, but uprooted completely. The devil also gives way for Jesus because darkness and light do not live together. The reason for the struggle with sin is because our minds have been conditioned by the old user who died, after he horribly and terribly misused the mind to do evil. So after his departure, the mind must be renewed by the word of God on daily basis. Secondly, the believer still wears the human flesh (body) that is liable to temptations, waiting for the final adoption on the resurrection morning. So beloved in Christ, it is no longer you that live, but Christ that lives in you. Live in the consciousness of this truth and victory is yours in Jesus name. Hallelujah!
